SEATTLE WASHINGTON

Seattle Washington is a glimpse from our PNW vacation. we visited Seattle, Washington for the first few days of our trip. I had never visited Seattle before and was quite excited to see what the city and the surrounding areas had to offer.

We took part in as many activities in the city as we could pack in, stayed in an awesome AirBnB close to downtown, and did a pretty epic hike at Mt. Rainier. Check out some of the activities we did, our local recommendations, and photos that were shot on our journey.

We spent roughly 3 days in Seattle, Washington, check out what we did and what we saw.

While we were in Seattle we explored the highlights of the city such as the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, the inner harbor, and other attractions the city had to offer. We stayed with Joe who hosted us through AirBnB, he was a wonderful host who’s condo was within walking distance to everything in the city. I strongly recommend him – his link is in the recommended section.

City Pass Activities

I strongly recommend doing the City Pass if you have it within your budget, this allowed us to cover a lot of attractions at a very reasonable price. The City Pass only cost us around $85 (we did this in advance of our trip through our booking site and had to create an account) and costs about $100 if purchased in the city. The pass allowed us to visit 5 attractions – Space Needle, Seattle Aquarium, Harbor Cruise, MoPop or the Zoo, and Chihuly Museum or the Pacific Science Center. Each of these attractions ran more than $30 for admission if they were booked individually so the pass made this much more cost effective.

Smith Tower

We visited Smith Tower based on a recommendation from the harbor tour - Smith Tower is the oldest skyscraper in Seattle and was the tallest in the city for a long time. It now has a speakeasy bar & 360 degree observatory at the rooftop. The observatory is very cool, you can see essentially all of the city other than what is blocked from some larger surrounding buildings and is awesome for the sunsetting on the city. Overall this was one of our more negative experiences on the trip. There is an admission charge that ranges from $14 - $20 per person to go up to the top, then drinks are $16 - $30 each once you are up there - none of this resulted in the issue we had.

The staff at the top informed us that we could sit wherever we would like and that table service was optional - just to let them know if we would prefer that and they would have the tab setup for what we wanted. We started near the bar to order our drinks and eventually sat down at a table, the bar staff were mostly friendly. The waiter who was working table service for the area we sat down in kept coming by and was overtly rude to us until we went to the bar and just had the tab switched over. The area was far from full and was not taking away from potential seating he would need to make tips, it completely felt that he went out of his way to make the switch or he would ruin our experience. I will not come here again.
